Need help: Check VSC

Need help: Check VSC
So I haven't driven the car for the past 2 days and just now I turned it up to check and see if my pipe bomb held the air good inside (which it didnt).
As I started the car, that horrible engine cranking noise was there and a second later I smell something burnt. A second or 2 later, CHECK VSC was on as well as my traction control light on the bottom right.
Any ideas?

This happened to me about a year ago and the problem was a bad gas cap. Make sure it clicks when you close it. It took the dealer 3 tries to diagnose the problem. Hopefully this is your problem and not something worse.

I had the same problem happen to me a few months back. I brought her to the dealership and they told me that it was a broken gas cap. They ended up replacing the cap and the problem went away.

You should do a search on this topic. There are numerous threads on this and this isn't the only reason, that's been causing this problem.
Either way, good luck with it.

Hey I had this same problem, I thought it was the gas cap but it wasn't. Took my car into the dealership and my service advisor told me it was a problem with the O2 sensor. The computer thought there was too much air entering so the computer inturn would burn slightly more fuel to compensate, since the engine dynamics change the vsc automaticly shuts down since it monitors engine rev's (apparently its a saftey precaution the computer takes so the vsc does not react in an adverse manner). So what happned was I got an upgrade in the software and its been fine since. Apparently its a know issue on 06, and 07 IS's.

Check VSC turns on with the check engine light. In order to diagnose the problem, someone will need to connect a scan tool to the diagnostic connector (under dash near the driver's left knee) and read the DTC code; since the car is under warranty that might as well be the dealer.
