I think either the LS460 or LS600h uses a new smart key thats about the same size and thickness as a credit card. Would it be possible to reprogram it to use with our 2IS? Of course the physical key wouldn't work but I'm just interested in the smart key portion.

I just think it would be nice tt keep the smart key in your wallet and not have to carry the current key fob around.

I wouldn't mind having it. I don't even really touch the keyfob once it's in my pocket anyways. The last thread about this that I read though stated that it was not possible. Don't qoute me on that one though.

It would be very convenient. Just one possible problem, how do you open the door if the battery runs out and you don't have your other key (the one with the physical key) with you?

most ppl don't know how to use the keyfob when it's dead. Beside the battery doesn't die that often. Anyone has a pic of that key?

Found a picture of the smartcard key. I suppose the owner of this LS blew his bankroll on the car, and didn't have anything left to buy a less disgusting wallet.

yeah a LS owner should get a better wallet to hold such beautiful card!

The smartcard key has a flat physical key tucked in the side.

haha alot of LS owners lease or down all their money on it...I see alot of LS owners with small 15 + year old houses... many probably want to feel rich.... haha like they say you can't judge a person's wealth by a car... look at where they live...

OMG that is so cool... Hopefully the next gen GS and/or IS will have that key too! Man then I REALLY wouldnt have to carry anything in my pockets! I hate stuff in my pockets!
