Update on my poor broken lug and stud. I called Lexus this morning, spoke with the asst service mgr and explained the situation. Bottom line: I would have to plea my case to the service mgr while at that dealership and they "may" warranty fix it. If not warrantied, I was quoted an estimate of $160 and about 2+ hours of my time at the dealership.
The parts will be at my private Lexus shop in about 30 minutes, so I'll be going there for the repair. Less than $100 and no more than an hour at the shop.

If someone offered me $100 to plea their case for them for this particular instance, I would do it. You have nothing to lose, and only money to retain. If you found a hundred dollar bill in the parking lot, it would make your day. You would even randomly bring up the story of how you found money every now and then. That is how good it would make you feel. All I am trying to say is it would be worth it to me to give it a try.

Nice color, BTW, but did I see a little overspray onto the rotor?
Now, about those overdue photo's......

I decided to go with my Lexus specialist. He fixed it today, cost was $55 and took only 30 minutes. BTW... if the dealership would not cover it under warranty, they quoted me $160 for the fix. Here are a few pics of the fix. It was an easy process: take the wheel off, take the brake caliper off, the hub then slides out, remove the damaged stud, put in the new stud, put the hub back on, but the caliper back on, put the wheel back on. Done.
Thanks again to all for your feedback!

Good call on replacing the lug. Most dealers won't replace something like that under warranty. It's really not something I would've taken to Lexus myself either.
BTW- the calipers look great. Good job!!!Also it's nice to see another CL couple that works on cars together.

Good to see you replaced the stud. It wouldn't have caused any damage anyways because the weight of the wheel actually DOES NOT rest on the stud/lugs themselves but rather the weight of the wheel sits on the lil ring protruding from the middle of the hub/rotor.
BTW, any tips on spray painting the calipers so perfect like that?

We seem to be rare, a couple who plays with the cars together. My husband got me into it. Sometimes, working on the car is tedious to me and more his cup of tea. It gives him pleasure having me involved, thus it gives me pleasure being involved.

When the Turanzas get worn, I'll probably go with GoodYear Eagle F1GS-D3. I like how they look and the reviews have been good. For several years, I/we have used Bridgestone RE050 and S-03s with decent results. But we'll try the F1s. Surprisingly, the Turanzas are not bad. Then again, with only 600 miles on them, I'd expect them to be o.k.
