I learned from experience. With the S2000, the book called for 63lbs. Try that at high speeds on a track. The guys who were in the know for Honda said 80 to 90lbs, regardless of the book. Granted, I'm not going to be at the track with the IS. I just feel more comfortable with slightly tighter lugs. 85lbs is tight enough to assure a good hold without being overly tight.

If you drive with 4 lugs, there will be too much stress on the other 4 lugs. While it will be strong enough to hold the wheel (and car) for a day or two of driving, it may accelerate metal fatigue, and may cause some permanent internal damage. If you are going to drive with 4 lugs to your mechanic, i suggest getting 5 new lugs to be extra safe so that you know for sure all the lugs are fault free. Nice calipers!

The painted calipers looks great, was it a spray on or brush on?
As for the missing lugnut, i wouldn't stress over it much. Two out of five studs on my maxima broke and i was driving on 3 lugs for 2 weeks just fine. Just take it easy and dont go crazy. Replacing studs is actually not that hard. it cost me about $4 to get 2 new studs and 2 new lugs.
Hard to believe but many idiots in NY drive with just 2 or 3 lugs permanently!

Read her comments, she said Rustoleum metallic which is in the spray can.
They do look really good, when I first saw the picture, I was thinking, "man, this chick had her calipers professionally done!".
Great job!
Cheers,
Old Oiler

Your calipers look great.
My question is that why are you paying 100.00 bucks for your personal lexus mechanic to do the job when that would be 100% covered under your warranty. You haven't taken the tires off the car ever? They installed the g-spiders. 100.00 isn't much, but hey, that could be a nice couple of meals for your and your hubby on the weekend. Nice massage, nice line of cleaning products for your car.. Tons of stuff. It's lexus fault, make them cover it.

The calipers do look good BTW. Any close up pics with the wheels off?

Why pay when I could get it repaired under warranty?
My thinking on this. Since I took the wheels off, the dealership would likely give me a hassle stating that I stripped the nut which in turn resulted in it breaking the threaded bolt part in half when I reinstalled the wheel. If I did it, I would own up to it (integrity). It was mounted wrong by them when they put the G-Spiders on. Once they see the painted calipers, I know they will give me a hard time.
Essentially it is my/our word against theirs and frankly, I just don't need the hassle. For $100, I'll have it done properly, timely, and hassle free. However, it does erk me since it was their doing and and they should be the one to fix it. I'm trying not to sweat the small stuff and I have enough going on that a problem with the dealership just isn't worth it.
Then again... Perhaps I will call them tomorrow morning and ***** up a storm that when I took the lug nut off, it was cross threaded and it snapped in two.
