You have to keep in mind that you are asking a pool of mostly guys if they think their car is a girls car...

From what I've seen, most IS250 drivers are women, and the majority of IS350 drivers are males.

Does it make any difference? Just look at the BMW 328i vs 335i, I would suspect you'll see a similar proportion of M-F ownership. Lexus is smart, if they can get women interested in a Lexus at an early age they have a shot at keeping them in the fold as they get older (ES, RX, LS). I have no problem with women driving any Lexus. In the case of the IS250 it shows the product is perceived by younger people as an acceptable way to express their 'coolness'. I'd rather have that then have a vehicle that is considered 'square'. As Lexus develops the IS-F and LF-A lines I'm sure men are the primary market, but a few women will jump into one. It's all good for everyone in the long run.

I think the IS fits both males and females equally well.

The good news is that all the women I've seen driving IS' have all been hot

who cares you all already bought one. this question is pretty ridiculous. you already have the car right? all i'm seeing is just a bunch of stereotyping and blanket generalizations. to count the amount of women who drive the car in proportion to the amount of male's is one thing. but to flat out say that the car is for girl's is fallacious. think about preschool. there was always that kid with a ken doll, and a girl with a toy car...fast forward. men drive mazda miata's and i see girls in lifted trucks. what's the difference, its preference.

The lines of an IS is a bit girly/feminine but at the same time, it looks aggressive from certain angles.

I wouldn't necessarily label the IS a girly car but living in So Cal, every time I see a 250, it's been driven by a female and the 350 has been driven by males. I guess I'm the exception with a 350.

There're also a lot of IS drivers at my workplace and out of the 10 IS I see in the parking lot, 9 of them are 250's driven by women.

Girly or not, I fall more and more in <3 with my 350 everyday. I love the look on guys' face when they find out I drive a 350. It's usually like this: and that's exactly how I like it!

If this is a "girly" car then cars like the OVERLY common bmw 3 series are girly too... I can't get away from them anywhere in Norcal or Socal...and about 1/2 of them are girls driving them.

what's the point of this thread? It only brings out stereotypes and sexist comments from the mostly male members here on CL, with a couple politically correct comments here and there.

Anything that is stylish and sexy is normally considered to be feminine and items that are rugged and tough are thought of as masculine. That's the generalization we have in society and our beloved IS happens to be stylish and sexy, along with a host of other cars (IMO) such as the 335i couple and G37 coupe.... Well i guess if you want a "masculine" looking car or a car that is driven more by males then go get yourself a F150 truck or something...

There's a negative connotation associated with the word "chic car" and it doesnt' just means it's a car popular with women. The term was coined originally as a way to demean or make something appear "weaker" because it belongs to a women.

And the comment that a car is a chic car when stock and a man when modded is even worst. You know what? Only about half the guys who mod their car know what they're really doing and those who "think they know" end up with a modded car that have problems. We see new posts daily here on CL from mostly male members asking for help because they either didn't do enough homework before doing a mod or didn't bother to until there is a problem. Does this still make males (those who mod their cars) automatically more superior?

250 is mostly driven by females and 350 by males? Well if Lexus made the 350 with a MT i would be driving one instead of the 250. If anything (IMO) any car with an automatic is less engaging than a manual and requires less driving skills. Can i then label all automatic cars as "chic cars" then?

So what car people drive and what they do with it is just simply their preference doesn't make your car more masculine or feminine.
