Exclamation Need Help Please with Keys not working...

i just did the install of the XM from the write up of Ben R...

my problem is i think the car is not detecting the keys??? anyone now how to reset the keys or something that i am missing???

i have to press the key several times for it to unlock or lock the car. i almost think its going into a programming mode. if i hold the unlock button for a few seconds it goes thru the multiple beeps, ect....

its a down pour here and it rolled all my windows and roof open from playing with the remote.

i am open to hear others that have found a way to make this work before i need to work tomorrow???

thank you everyone for your time and help

Interesting. Please post if you learn what happened. I'm getting ready to do the install on my own also.

Get a new battery for your remote.

jsut an update for everyone. i took all the equipment out of the car and everything went back to a normal state and car started up, key fobs worked just like they did....????

i re installed the XM again this am and it works just fine. one thing i noticed is the stering colum mad a very strange noise when it turned over and i have to keep pushing the start button on the dash. so far no issues and XM is working just fine. not a fan of how it displays compared to Acura's NAvagation system. Must say its nice to have it back....

it took about 15 min to install it, i did not take out as much as Ben_R did on his post, saved myelf a lot of time.

Yea I just followed along what the Lexus install guide told me to do, but I agree you really dont have to go through most of all that trouble. Glad everything worked out okay for you and I am still wondering what happened the first time around...

i wish i knew so i could share. i wanted to fight me again the 2nd time i did it but it took and so far so good.

i have done this in many cars in the past and most are just plug and play. i think Lexus/Toyota could have had the car ready and not required that large wire harness to be installed. that was the biggest pain for the whole install.

take care and thanks for your original post! i am sure many people will find it very helpful and push them to get the XM.
