Arrow IS250 to get new higher HP 3.5L V6 (rumor)

Have you guys heard any news that the current IS250 V6 engine will be dropped in the near future (next model year?) in favor of the more common 3.5L 268hp used in the Camry, Avalon, Highlander, RAV4, ES350 and RX350? One salesman I was talking to mentioned that he had heard that Toyota wants to make the 3.5L V6 268hp engine as the "standard" or base engine and eliminate other lower output V6 engines to cut cost. It makes sense to me and it would definitely address some of the low power complaints I hear from some IS250 and IS250AWD drivers. Your thoughts?

good for fun, bad for speeding tickets and gas $$.

I understand the whole, "guns dont kill people, people kill people" analogy to counter this comment... Its just that I can garauntee if my IS250 had more hp, I'd be getting speeding tickets

I like having less hp! so far, i havent been pulled over! --i have been driving the IS for 8 months. (knock on wood)

204HP is more than enough for me, if I want to speed I can do it on PWR mode easily, hey speeding ticket costs a lot..

You know, this is a GREAt thought, never thought of this. We have speculated the IS 250 will get the bump to 300 using the previous GS 300 engine. It is sold in the middle east with this engine.

However it would be easier to use the same 3.5 but without direct injection so the IS 350 keeps the power bump.

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

This would be a strange idea as Lexus wants to further differentiate itself from Toyota. That means only Lexus getting D4-S engines. I think putting in the 3.5L 268HP 2GR-FE that so many Toyota models use would be a step backwards as it would mean less differentiation between the IS and Toyota models.

Also power-wise it would be too close to the IS350. The only way I see this happening is if the IS350 gets a power boost, and even then I see Lexus upping power on the IS250's 2.5L engine or adding in a bigger D4-S engine.

I highly doubt the plain jane 2GR-FE will be put into the IS.

There is a 3GR-FE (3L non-direct injection) engine in the IS in some Middle East markets, but that is because the low quality fuel there does not support the D4-S system.

Nah....my vote goes for the return of the 3.0 IS, even if they keep calling it IS250 a la BMW

and from where do you get your fuel? .

your right actually the dealer here says that we dont have the IS 350 because of our "Low quality" fuel.

anyway that doesn't mean that they can't sell the IS300 in the U.S and Canada markets, you still have some previous GS300's around.

I don’t understand that logic. You can receive speeding tickets just as easily in 250. Just because I have a 350 doesn’t mean that I am constantly hauling *** everywhere I go, breaking all speed limits all the time. It’s absurd to think owning a 350 equals more speeding tickets. GETTING up to speed limit is a lot more fun in the 350. Feeling the extra power is more fun. Pulling hills and passing cars is much easier. Tons of reasons why the 350 is more fun and rewarding than the 250. I get the gas mileage thing and the cost difference as to why not to buy the 350 and the manual tranny option in the 250. But certainly not because of speeding tickets.

Hell, my neighbor drives an M5 and got a speeding ticket in his wifes pilot a few weeks back. If you speed you speed. Your going to do it in what ever car you drive.

I don't think Lexus would introduce a Toyota 3.5L engine or the Lexus 3.0 V6 from the middle east to north america. Both would be a step backwards. More likely Lexus would bump the existing 2.5L to 3.0L to the same power and torque output as the current middle eastern IS300, and retaining the D4-S system. This would put the IS250 at par with the BMW 328i (228hp), instead of the 323i (200hp)

Yea I dont think that will happen. Too close to the IS350 engine. Then there would be little reason to get the 350. Besides im sure toyota is making a killing blowing the 250s out of dealerships everywhere. If they made it closer to the 350 theyd have to charge more and that would mean less sales.
