Default Pot hole VS Sevas s22!!!!!PICS ADDED!

Man, more bad luck for me. So I was driving at night down the freeway when I suddenly hit a pot hole. It definitely wasn't small but it too bad either and this is what happened. The rim actually split in half from the inside all the way around. I thought that my tire was definitely popped but to my surprise there was nothing wrong with the tire, no holes nothing it was just the rim that got damage. I immediately pulled over to the side. I was lucky that the outer half of the rim did not come out. What do you guys think? Should a pot hole be able to do this to a rim or could it be a defected rim? Can the manufacturers warranty cover this? thanks.

i've heard of wheels like mugen rnr's cracking due to potholes because they are not made for on road driving and rough conditions. they are track wheels made for smooth surfaces and are also made to be as light as possible. this should not be the case for your wheels. they should withstand potholes and rough roads. i would hope that the warranty covers your wheel because i would not expect that to happen to a wheel on my daily driver.

Warranty should cover it.

How long have you had it (mileage and time wise)?

Any reason why you would be nervous about your iForged? Aren't they supposed to be pretty strong or did they get a bad rep recently?

Weren't there a few cases where this happened to HRE's? I think any wheel could be damaged from a severe hit but this seems unlikely to occur with a thick cast wheel like Sevas. The Sevas wheels are lighter than most cast wheels, maybe that lightness without being forged has weakened structural integrity. I hope not, I got a set on the GS300. At least I've trained my wife to drive slow over rough surfaces.

Sorry to hear about what happened and glad you came out okay.

Must be a hole from hell cos to do that damage, surely your car will also be affected. If your car is fine and the tires are fine then i reckon the rims are dud.

forged metals shouldn't just fail like that unless there already existed some inherent internal defects. that crack runs pretty straight along the barrel, so it seems that area was either cracked already or too thin
