Noise at startup...
ok... so i just got my is350 secondhand and i'm a newbie so this question may sound stupid if the car's actually supposed to do this... when i press the start button i hear a strange noise coming from the instrument cluster before the engine starts.... it's like a 1 second buzz noise...is this normal???

i dont' get the noise when i start the car.
However, i do get a noise after turning off the car and opening the door.
I think it has to do with security. Locking up the steering wheel maybe, but not 100% sure. This is normal for all IS250's that i have been in here in Taiwan

I hear the same exact noise on my used 06 IS 350! I inquired about it at my last oil change; the advisor entered it as "steering wheel column noise", and of course the technicians found nothing wrong. I still have the noise, and will pursue the issue at my next visit to the dealership.

OH OH I HEARD IT TODAY 
only cuz i tried to hear it.
Ok its nothing, that quick 1sec buzz from the steering. Thats the electrical steering wheel lock locking/unlocking. *which has been already mentioned* But ok, yea there is a buzz.

This may be stupid but i just want to confirm its not the obvious. Are you sure its not the steering wheel adjusting to its preset memory position (happens when first hitting the start button and when shutting car off). Or the mirrors or something else adjusting to the key you have in your pocket. Sometimes the obvious slips through the cracks.
