Its really not a big deal, nothing will happen. You might loose some performance other then that nothing will happen.

i don't know if you have a 250 or 350, but i think it's absurd that premium gas is required in a 200 hp naturally aspirated 6 cylinder (250). i'm NOT complaining about the cost. it's just the fact that a non-performance oriented car should not need anything above 87 octane. a guy at the dealership told me premium should be used because it has variable valve timing so i use premium, but i still think it's pointless.

My guess is someone didn't read the owners manual or they wouldn't be freaking out over something as trivial as this. Heck, it is your own fault if you didn't tell the guy to put in premium gas. Last I checked telepathy hasn't quite been proven yet

Just add a full tank of 101 octane racing fuel and you'll be balanced in no time...

apparently you are so distraught by this you are putting the car up for sale in the CL classified? Based on when you posted the sale, you are basically saying that you are selling a car whose engine you think might blow up because it had 87 in it... nice.

Not only that, but he gets all these replies and doesnt thank anyone. There are ~35 replies to his question and he says nothing. I wouldnt pay 37 grand for a used 06 with that many miles anyways. With how mad he got over something so trivial, he probably beat that car up anyways.

What a joke. People like this don't even deserve to have a drivers license. It's just as bad as those morons in the left lane of the highway talking on their cell phones and going under the speed limit completely oblivious to everything around them.

Yeah, just relax.....my friend did it to his car a few times and I never saw anything happen more than maybe a little loss in power or mileage. His car has about 150k so it's probably safe to say it didn't do any damage to his car.

my friend who owns a whole bunch of 76 stations fills up his Acura TL which asks for premium with regular gas all the time. He never uses premium because he says it doesn't really make much difference and he never drives the car hard so wont hurt the car at all. He's been doing this for a long time already and no problems whatsoever.

He's serious. Both New Jersey and Oregon have laws prohibiting self-serve gas stations. Why those laws haven't been overturned is a mystery to me. Thankfully New Jersey has some of the lowest gas taxes in the nation, so we usually have either the cheapest or second cheapest (behind South Carolina) gas of any state despite having full serve.
