Unhappy Totaled at 8 months

After 8 months of owning my 2007 IS 250 I totaled it. It didn't look like much but they decided it was over 23k in damage. Nobody was hurt and now I have a new one (same year, model, and color) with the Nav system.

Just thought I would share my story and join the community.

ouch that sucks. well it's good to know that it's at least totalled, instead of them trying to repair that. it would have taken forever because you'd have to wait for parts.

be happy you're safe and that you can get a new IS =) On one other note, since we're still in the 07 model year, you'll get at least a good majority of your money back. good luck choosing another car.

Yes you do. I had my dog in the car that morning (not during the accident) and she gets her own seat cover. I'm not letting her ride on the leather.

Yeah. . . I ran a red light. My first accident and ticket in ten years of driving. I don't remember the accident and can't tell you why I ran the red light. I wasn't on the phone, drinking, racing, or anything like that. Oncoming traffic had the left hand turn arrow and a pickup pulling a boat ran into the front driver's side of my car and my car bounced into the stoplight pole. I hit my head pretty hard and was out cold for about 30 minutes. The driver of the truck was fine (just upset that he couldn't go boating)

I thought the car didn't look like it was going to be totaled but I guess it bent the frame pretty bad. Both rails needed to be replaced and the spring from the front driver's side wheel pushed back into the firewall (which brings up a lot of issues in safety after the car is repaired). It took them 5 weeks to decide it was totaled.

After test driving a bunch of other vehicles I decided they couldn't hold a candle to my Lexus. My friends are now teasing me that I bought the same car because it looks identical. It has the Nav and A/C seats package which is new to me but otherwise it is the same.

Um, yeah, insurance does that. Now they may raise his rate. Or, they may not (Allstate, for example, has an accident forgiveness thing).

Sorry, but sympathy shouldn't be handed to someone who ran a red.

You're lucky you didn't kill or injure someone, OP.

I hope you don't pull that kind of a stunt again.
