Default Bluetooth capability with LG VX8600

Just wondering if anyone has used the LG VX8600 in their IS and if both the signal strength and battery life show up on the nav screen? I really like how my motorola E815 works in the car so I am a little hesitant to make the switch without knowing what features I may lose by doing so. Thanks!

A lot of the functionality depends on your service provider. I have the LG VX 8100, and my BT signal strength, cell phone signal strength, and battery life show up on the nav screen.

However, I am not able to transfer my phone book to the car's memory from my phone. The issue isn't with the car, it is with my service provider, who happens to be Verizon.

My BT connection kicks off every time I try to transfer my phone book over.

Default VX8600 compatablility

Cleric,

I have the LG VX8600 and a 2007 IS250 with Nav. Both the signal strength and battery life meter work great. The phone works great with our cars Nav as far as I can tell.

In fact if you check lexus.com the VX8600 is one of the most compatible phones with the 2IS Nav. One of the main reasons I purchased this phone. Just go to the Lexus IS page at lexus.com, then accessories, then bluetooth phone, choose your model/year car and then choose the VX8600 phone. Love the VX8600 phone too.

Good Luck. Hope this help.

Sam

I'm curious, does Verizon still disable a lot of the features, such as Phonebook transfer, today? I bought my phone in late 2005, and some of the limitations are irritating.

Phone book transfer was a little awkard. I think I had to tag each persons name and then execute a send to the Nav unit. But your right, Verizon does cripple some of the features of the phone as always.

Yes, you need to tag each contact you want to transfer. There's no "transfer all" option. A little inconvenience but the transfer works perfectly.

I'm still in research mode for purchasing an IS, and my question is, if on the site it says no beside transfering single/multi numbers, does that mean you would just have to input it into the navigation manually? If so no biggie as long as it can still be put on the system since the phone I have says it won't transfer them.

Also, what if a phone I'm looking to purchase isn't listed. That just means Lexus hasn't tested it and not that it doesn't work right?

Most Verizon Wireless phones that are not PDAs or brand new (meaning still sold in stores) will not work. Some newer model phones may work with transfering phone books.

I have two current cell phones, one a V3c and the other the Samsung u740. The RAZR did display all info as far as battery, etc. The Samsung does not.

I was checking the lexus website and noticed that they do not list the treo from verizon as a compatible phone. Is it just because the site is not updated? I'm in the market for a PDA/Blackberry and didn't want to get stuck with a phone that's not going to function with the navigation/bluetooth. Any recommandations on a phone from verizon from you guys?

Thanks for the input everyone. I actually decided to go "bling" and purchase the LG VX8700 instead. I read it will be able to transfer the phone book via BT so I'll try it out and let ya'll know.

i'm using the vx8700 right now with my IS... what sucks is that caller ID doesn't show up... one of the main reasons i liked bluetooth was because i didn't have to dig through my pockets for my phone when driving, but since there's no caller id i have to check my phone anyways.... sucks...

I jus bought VX8700 and transferred the entire contact list to my IS 350 book (not the easiest of moves, had to create a group, then mark all contacts and then put Lexus system to transfer data and then the phone). However, the caller id shows up as "not supported". Help!!!

this is false. my phone is almost 2 years old from Verizon, and it shows battery life, signal, etc.
