Anyone feel that the steering wheel is too soft and slippery?

no complaints about the steering wheel or the steering. feels right for the lazy weekend cruises or brisk drives up/down the mountain roads.

then again, i came from a 96 maxima w/ a steering wheel fit for a big rig...

old thread but had the same thought today. I'd say the main concern is that there is no variable steering ratio so that makes it feel sort of slippery when driving at city speeds or on parking lots when trying to use the heel of the hand only or making quick steering changes.

This thread is about the physical feel (touch) of the steering wheel itself, not the way the car's steering feel is.

If you are looking for increased steering feedback, try stickier/wider front tires and/or changing out the EPS ECU to one from a newer F-Sport or IS F model.

if the steering wheel is shiny, it's not a good thing. it means the coating has had a lot of oils from either hand, leather products , etc. you dont ever want it shiny.

both of my oem ISF steering wheel and new flat bottom is a dry, matte looking leather. make sure you clean off your steering wheel regularly with water to take off all the oils that cause it to crack

Agree and that's what I meant, the physical sloppiness of the steering wheel but maybe I didn't explain me thoughts well enough.
When the steering wheel is slippery then one has to hold it firmer to cause enough friction between one's hands and the wheel to make sure the car stays on track when zipping through traffic or on parking lots.
With vehicles that have variable steering this is less of an issue because the ratio changes and steering wheel is easy to turn (less resistance) so less friction required thus not required to hold tight the wheel at all times.

As far as I understand the different ECU won't change that since there is no variable steering column in the current IS. The 2014 has it
