Default Here's what your tpms sensors look like for the curious

I know not an important thread or whatever, but if you are curious here they are. I had mine removed today to install into some new rims/tires. Tire shops will try to tell you this that and the other about "we can't remove them" "it's against the law, blah blah" or they will try to tell you that they have to remove the whole tire and then want to charge you to dismount the tire and remount. They (lexus, discount tire, ntb) will tell you that they can't just push the tire back and remove/add new stems. BS

All you have to do is find like a tire shop in da ghetto that doesn't give a damn. They can push the tire back and pull them off.

it takes 5 minutes to remove a TPMS, deflate the tire on the dismount machine, dismount tire partially reach inside and unscrew the sleave and it will come right out....... simple as that. Yeah its no mystry, but most shops dont want to be liable for damaging them.........

Thank you very much for the info. Now the dealers and tire shops can not BS us when we change our wheels.

i personally saw what the tpms looked like the other day when my tire shop tried to put em into my new wheels. it screwed in fine but since the hole for the nozzle is inside the barrel of the wheel, it would cause the black part of the tpms to stick out. the tire shop said the black part might snap off when they stretch the tire onto the rim. i'm trying to figure out how other people were able to mount their tpms when the hole for the nozzle is inside the barrel of the rim.

But why would you want to remove them? To sell them separately? Why not just leave them attached to the rims? Unless you are going to try and get them to work in some new rims...

Every time I've had new tires put on other cars, they have insisted on replacing the valves, for a couple bucks apiece. Since the valve is incorporated into the TPMS on our IS, do we just reuse the same valve/TPMS when getting new tires? Pretty expensive to replace, I would imagine. Or, is the valve separable from the TPMS part?
