X Package or Luxury Package - New Owner Question
I am very close to buying a 2007 IS 350. I previously owned a 1999 Corvette with a coilover suspension and numerous other mods so I'm used to a very firm ride.
I'd like to ask the forum if the Sport Tuned Suspension in the X Package is worth giving up on some options included in the Luxury Package. Unfortunately, I cannot find an X Package with any added options. I do like the wheels and the front lip spoiler. However, there are none of these in Minneapolis, only Luxury Package-equipped. I would have liked to test drive each but that's not possible.
Please give me some input.
Thanks!
Paul

I wouldnt. Id get the luxury package. From what i understand the only thing different with the sport package as far as the suspension goes is the front shocks. Anyone else confirm?

Front shocks/springs and rear shocks/springs are different on sport packages. X package cars have different wheels and the sport suspension. I believe the only options you would be giving up going from luxury to sport would be lighted door sills and wood accents, but you would gain the better suspension.

The biggest difference is the interior... Do you want a wood interior (luxury package) or the plastic "metal" interior (sport and x-package)?
If you want luxury features, and don't want the wood interior, then buy the sport package... It has nearly all the same features of the luxury package, while the x-package does not... Hence the huge price difference with the sport and x-package...

Luxury package also has the rear sunshade, memory seats, and dimming side mirrors (plus power telescoping steering wheel, i think? ). IMO most of the X-Package options you can add later if you want either OEM or aftermarket. It would be a lot harder to add the Luxury items.

Or just get the Sports Package, Ground Effects Kit, Nav/ML and XM like I did! You have the best of all worlds and can just drive away and enjoy it. But I haven't seen any other IS's with these factory options since I got mine, and I doubt you will find any like it in dealer inventory today as most IS's are coming with fewer and fewer options from what I can see. It was not a special order, it was just sitting on the dealer's showroom floor last August. He had gotten it from a dealer in Colorado Springs, CO. Was it a cancelled special order or something else? No idea.
I do like the memory seats and power, telescoping steering column which you don't get with the X-package. About the only thing the sports package gives up to the Luxury Package is illuminated scuff plates and the rear sun shade. Don't need the sun shade and scuff plates are a simple plug n' play add on if wanted.

Anyway. X package does not offer ML. If you need to have ML, then Luxury is the best bet.
Also, X package does not offer Memory Seats. If you need to have memory seats, then Luxury again.
On the X package, besides asthetics, only the Sport Suspension may be useful. But you can always put on aftermarket suspension or even OEM sports suspension if you so desire.
