Default Has anyone found a trailer hitch receiver for the ISx50?

I've been anxiously waiting for someone to develop at trailer hitch for our car for a year. Has anyone found one?

BTW, I realize that the car isn't designed for towing, but I could not care less.

There is an OEM hitch offered in Europe that is really nice but expensive (rated at 3500 lbs.).

Actually, I posted in that thread, but I thought it was much older than that. I figured a new thread would be better than reviving an old one since old threads don't usually get much participation. Now that I think about it though, it probably would have been better to just revive it for updates.

The hitch offered in Europe is interesting, but I HATE that you have to cut the bumper cover. I also think it looks hidious.

Don't know if this will help but,

The european OEM hitch is made by Brink International Towbars http://www.brinkweb.com and they are owned by Thule http://www.thulegroup.com. Further more Thule also own Valley industries http://www.valleyindustries.com/ who make towing products for the US. Maybe they can help you.

Brinkmatic hitches are the most popular aftermarket hitches made for Euro versions and some fitment in the US . They have a search website that allows for individual installation and instructions for the hitches sold.

Often, those Brink hitches can be purchased from The Thule/Valley distributors in the US. Largest of these is U-Haul. But most Uhaul people are not familiar with the Brand. You can specify the Brinkmatic number for the hitch and ask the Uhaul local people to contact their Hitch central department, speak directly to the Manager and see if they will contact Valley/Brink to get the hitch. Or call direct.

Other options.... bring the vehicle into one fo the US Manfacturers, Valley, Drawtite/Resse, Curt ,or, Uhaul at the Tempe Central Tech Center location and have them design and build a custom hitch for your vehicle.

The IS hitch is as close to a Corolla hitch as you are going to get. Those are already in existence, except for the rear mufflers and exhaust, otheriwse the corolla hitch would most probably fit the IS. Having installed a few thousand hitches in the last few years, we are pretty confident that a US hitch is not that far off. Nor should it be anywhere near as costly as the Brinkmatic.

US ingenuity and lower costs will evenutally prevail. But the MFG's need to get a vehicle first.
Wiring is a simple matter once the hitch is installed, and you then have a US standard receiver hitch with wiring and warranties included.

I've been waiting for a hitch for the IS for 2 years without success to this point. Any Takers?

Regards,
Bob

Thanks for your input. I'm no longer looking for a hitch for my IS since I decided it would be far earier and cheaper to marry into a tow vehicle. The new wife has an SUV.
