Not sure if anyone posted this, but the Lexus Perfomance Driving Academy gave an IPOD cable as a part of the gift bag. It was a reallt nice gesture even though I bought one a year back. Just a heads up for all those attending.
i have the vaistech kit so i have no reason to use the AUX. its much nicer this way, charge and play w/ one cord that is hidden out of sight in the glovebox and control through the OEM steroe controls. who could ask for more...
I always use the aux.
slightly inconvenient cause of location, but the wire hides under the console even when it's closed so it's not too bad.
and i have a rubber casing on my ipod so it holds it in place
Using it to connect my iPod. I'm using a cable that goes from the line level output on the iPod's dock connector to the car's aux jack, which gives better sound quality than using the iPod's headphone jack.
+1
... although, I did have to go to the dealer and have the AUX TSB performed because of engine noise coming through the system... even though I am using the Monster Cable unit. No problems since that fix, and I use my iPod daily in that port.

i just used a 3.5mm cable to connect the ipod to the aux. the sound quality is so-so and some of the speakers don't work for the ML! does anyone else with the ML have this problem?
It happens to me sometimes, I have to move the cable around to make it all work =/

Not just that, but if you are using the headphone jack for your source, you are going to have terrible sound. As Bichon said, it is important to utilize the line level output at the bottom of the iPod for maximum quality.

Which aux cable do you use? I've been searching informations on how to play my iphone through the aux but still can't find it.
I use the Belkin kit myself, plays through aux and charges
Doesn't charge the newest gen stuff (like iphone 3G and newer) but you can get an adapter to do so if you need it and plays music regardless

Obviously since no one else has said it my case must be an isolated event but, mine only plays in mono through the front speakers. Guess I'll bring it up next time I take it to the dealer. Which will be soon since my driver side controls for both passenger side windows stopped working after my battery died and I had to change it out.

You need to reset the windows...takes 2 minutes and is described in your owners manual.
The mono issue is probably the cable you're using.

I actually like the location of the AUX jack. I can control and hide my iPod at ease. The volume on steering works as well. For a $20.00 cable, it sounds GREAT. Why spend $200+ to control your iPod on the radio.
Where did your get this cable?
