We don't know who will be the better pilot. That will be the majoity of the difference. The other big factor nobody mentioned is tire condition. New versus old - lots of tread versus little.

Turn off the AC

Have fun and be safe.

KeyserS,

I didn't mean to ruffle your ruffles.

Most of what you said was good but to me it sounded like the retail Lexus website price was the best he could do and I think he can do better by shopping 6 dealers against each other. Just my opinion. .

I didn't pick up that he was from Saudi Arabia. Your post was informative, but I am sure taxes, fees, insurance are in the buyer's mind. These fees are paid throughout the world and I doubt state taxes, fees, whatever are very high in Indiana. FL, CA, NY I would worry.

I mentioned the loaner because if there is a recall or service that requires less than two hours work some dealers won't provide a loaner. In that case why not go home and get it the next day? For most recalls and service he will get a loaner. If not he rents.for 2 days. Not a big deal.

Call it a gut feel but I figured his son was in university. As it turns out he is. A college student can turn a 3 hour drive into a fun experience.

Sorry for the hurt feelings.

Recalls are part of ownership. Renting a car, friends, cabs and public transportation are the only ways to avoid spending time at dealers.

Lexus does a very good job of making recalls as painless as possible..

Fees is a can of worms and is subject to each dealer. Only talk total dollars out the door with EVERYTHING included. Make sure they understand not a dollar more or less.

Let the dealer play with the numbers all they want. I always tell them, "I don't care how you get there, but we are only talking a true bottom line."

As long as I am comfortable with the number they can rig the paperwork however they want.

Do this and you won't have any worries about getting boned when the car comes in. The dealers have their cost down to the penny + or - fuel charges which on any car purchase is peanuts.

I am saying this based on purchasing. I know little about leasing since I purchase and keep cars longer than most.

If you can't pay to have it repaired/replaced then why ask? I am not sure why you have a car of this caliber if you can't keep it in good shape.

I don't mean to sound negative, but it sounds like you are 10 years early in owning a very nice car. Get a beater that you won't worry you until you can afford a place with a garage.

B) is what I would do.
