Default Nav issues

Anyone else having nav issues the past few days. The GPS indicator goes on and off constantly (I'm not surrounded by any tree, buildings or other cover). When I go into the diagnostic screen, it shows anywhere from 2-8 satellites. Less than 3 or 4 the GPS indicator is off, more than that GPS is fine. I would think if it's a satellite issue, other would be having this problem as well.

Do you have a 2006 car with the original disc? If so, ask you dealer to replace the disc with the one specified in the TSB. I was having the problem frequently before I got the new disc; now the GPS indicator only goes off in tunnels and garages.

Thanks for the info. I have an appointment to take it in. Seems strange that it worked perfectly for over a year, then all of a sudden.

At times when I am in a parking garage in the city I have a problem or two, otherwise everything seems to calibrate or "find itself" in a matter of a minute. Even if it gets screwed up sometimes when I am not in Chicago, it manages to correct itself within a minute. I haven't noticed any nuiances lately...

Is the TSB disc that different from the original one?

I really want to take to dealer for new nav disk, but i'm afraid to lose the ability to override the navigation to enter destination while driving (of course my passenger will do that for me)

The TSB disk has the software from the 2007 disc, but the map data from the 2006 disc. (Guess they don't want people requesting the TSB just to get the updated maps)

It completely solves the problem. Since having the TSB done, any time I've checked the diagnostic screen I have so many locked satellites that it spills into the second column. And since having the TSB done, I've never seen the GPS indicator off while driving outside. (Except for the first 15 seconds or so after starting the car, if I haven't driven in a few hours)

I've had mine since April 06, and have never had an issue like this with my nav. I wonder what the difference is!?

Bichon, with the TSB disk do you lose the override function?

Unfortunately, yes. I've been using voice recognition to enter destinations while driving. There is also a hardware hack using a switch to temporarily disconnect the speed signal during destination entry (great writeup on CL member Technique's website) which should work if it ever becomes too big an inconvenience.
