You can always look into getting a generic manual sunshade. I had one on my previous car. It helped in the 120 degree sun in Fresno. Made it hard to look for cops in the rearview mirror though when driving. Otherwise, pretty useless

thats a good idea , where can I get one? main reason for me getting one is to protect the upper leather part of the back seat.

No offense, CWS, but perhaps you ought to invest in a bottle of "Head and Shoulders" for your rear seat passenger.

LOL! I noticed that when I made the pics. Haven't cleaned it in a while - cigarette ashes!

Here is a site that I found. This is not where I bought my sunshade several years ago, I'll have to dig thru my receipts and find that place. But if I remember correctly they sold a automatic sunshade also but tougher to install. My rear sunshade from my previous car(BMW 325i) was too long to fit in the IS. The rear deck in the IS is quite a bit shorter. BTW, I would only recommend using these when parked. Visibility is horrible.

HELLS yes.. I posted the picture of it on the outside just to show what it looks like...I use it here and there.. but I don't drive with it. I only put it up when i'm parked out in the sun...

You do what you can in summers of 110+ ... even now slowly creeping into fall.. we're still in the 100+

I leave my auto rear shade up during the summer months (in addition to the 35% tint)--it's a great feature. Sometimes the shade forgets to rise after coming down during reverse, though. Still waiting for the day when auto glass comes with embedded automatic/adjustable tint.

I like it--I use it all the time on really sunny days, and when I'm parked. If you look on Lexus.com under the GS, it's like a $200 stand alone option there. To retrofit one onto an IS, though, I'm sure would be much more expensive. They would need to replace the rear shelf, as it rolls down flush into the shelf.
