In a previous thread (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=255326) the gaps in my front spoiler installed by dealer were greater than 2mm on the corners, a 5 out of 10 job (esp. what I paid > $400). I took it back today and they futz around with it and could not fix it. So back home I go and put it up on ramps,

get my trusty friend (Guss)

and procede to fix it myself

It is aceptable now, not perfect, but ok for me.

I pushed the corners in and at the same time pushed underneath where the tab is attached. 2 snapped easy and the others took some work. Then I secured them.

I would, but they are fixing something else a sub contractor screwed up.

the problem with most dealership service is that they don't care about the car as much as you do. To them, you are just a service problem.

I had the front lip spoiler added to my IS250 after about 6 months of owning it. After the lip was installled, I pulled into the dealer's parking lot to pick it up (my car was parked up front) and the first thing I noticed were the gaps on the side! It looked ridiculous to me. I talked with my service advisor and he had it sent back to the subcontractor to be fixed. Well, the spoiler is a "snap on" accessory and basically there was nothing they could do.

Those gaps bugged the hell out of me...it just didn't look right. So what I did, and this would only work on crystal white IS's, was use some white outdoor acrylic/latex caulking. I just outlined where I wanted the caulking with painter's tape, and caulked it. Now it looks soooo much better!!! Hope that helps. And by the way, it's been about 5 months since I caulked it and it has held up very well.

Seriously man, the amount of caulking needed is very minute...even though the gaps look pretty obvious. If you were to look at my car, you would have no idea not only that it was chalked but also that I did it myself. Surely you would think a subcontractor of lexus would've thought of putting some type of filling so the lip would be more flush with the car.

IMO dealerships and their subcontractors do enough just to get the job done; anything else beyond that is the proverbial "cherry on top of the sundae."
