FYI, I don't like the software override... I think that having to enter the service menu every time I start the car is unacceptable... So, check my webpage for details on what I did to have a switch that instantly overrides the destination entry lockout...

Here's the exact page:

You can do this on a 2006 or 2007, on ANY version of the DVD NAV V5.1, V6.1, firmware whatever, doesn't matter, works on all of them like a charm

Can't wait to see what v7.1 (or whatever the update will be called) will do. Will we have to wait for the 2008's to arrive, or is there a possibilty that newer editions of the '07 will have an updated Nav version?

Well, don't confuse the DVD version (V5.1, V6.1) with the NAV version (Gen 3, Gen 4, Gen 5)

The new DVD version, V7.1 or whatever, will just be new map data, for the most part...

The big change will be when the Gen 6 navigation unit comes out. I wonder what's in the LS460. I am pretty sure it uses a hard drive but I don't know if it's GEN 5 nav or not...

Great work.

I have a 2007 IS250 with V6.1 Nav DVD, 1650 Firmware. I also own a 2004 Lexus RX330 with V4.1 Nav DVD. Will the V4.1 "loading.kwi" file work as my firmware file with the V6.1 maps?

I believe the LS 460 has a variant of Eclipse's AVN7000 which also has a hard drive. It is probably a variant of the Gen 5 system.

Malon015: won't work unfortunately. I believe your RX 330 is Gen 3 and you would need a disk from another Gen 2-3 system (I believe these were compatible).

I believe your RX has a Gen 3 or 4 nav, not a Gen 5.

It might "work", but not worth trying, as it will probably barely be functional... You gotta stay with GEN 5 firmware... So V5.1 is your only option...

FYI, I noticed one "inconvenience" of the switch method... When I switch the override on, and I can enter destinations, it only works for, oh 30-60 seconds... Then it locks it out again... I have to flip the switch off and on again, and then I can enter destinations once again... So, I guess if you are going to enter a specific destination, the switch is fine... If you want to browse the POIs for a while, then use the software override... I like having both options

You mention jumpy nav in that link when the hack is enabled. Is this true for everyone or intermittent? I guess i'm wondering if this is a guarenteed to have side effect of performing this mod. I really want to enable MP3 folder listing while driving on my '07.

TIA

The standard nav hack does NOT have jumpy nav and gives you the following:
1) mp3 folder while driving
2) DVD movies while driving
3) bluetooth phone dialing while driving
