AS many of you already know most Mercedes come from the factory with Mobil 1, 0-40 installed. With my car it took almost 15,000 miles of driving before the rings settled in and it quit burning oil. From 15,000 on and with change interval of 10,000 miles the car did not burn a drop of oil. I plan of switching to Mobil 1 but not until at least 10,000 miles to give the motor plenty of break in time.

Porsches and Corvettes also ship w/M1 from the factory, among others. M1 is all I've used.

Some are. I make my living doing sales, but I can't afford to be stupid at what I do since I'm also SE and first level support.
That said, I haven't met a car sales guy who knows more about cars than I do.

Has he been building street and competition engines for the last 25 years? The hard questions I ask usually get referred back to someone in an engineering department, or they give me the usual "that's proprietary information" response.
I'm pretty sure he's got the marketing material down quite well. If you can't do that you shouldn't be in sales.
I have yet to meet a car sales guy who's been inside an engine, much less done port work, knows how to run a lathe or a mill, or weld proficiently. But that's just me. Anthony might be that one guy who does.

Careful.
I've read some pretty stupid questions from some here or were they just to lazy to read their manual's or use a spell checker?
That said one does find a tidbit of useful information every now and than and that's the reason I read it often. The rest of the time it's just fun to chat...

That he does, that he does. As to the rest I have no clue and don't care in this case. I just want someone who knows his product.

I have personally rebuilt hundreds of engines ranging from Chevys to Mercedes and even a Ferrari motor once and have used synthetic oil in all of them with absolutely no ill effects. IMO it's all urban legend and until Mythbusters tests this one and says that synthetic oil actually hurts a new engine I will continue using it in all of my new and rebuilt engines.
