Oil change stuff...
So I've had my car for 2 weeks and already at 2000 miles. Should my first oil change be at 5000 miles? Or should I do them sooner? I use to change my accord every 3500 miles at an EZLube down the street. 20 bucks for a car wash and oil change...
Should I change the oil of my is350 myself? Or have them do the change for 20 bucks WITHOUT the car wash? (I don't want scratches)
Dealership wants 50 bucks for an oil change and a wash, a bit expensive if you ask me
What do you guys suggest? What are the benefits of syntetic over the normal stuff?
I've never changed my oil before

I did my first change at 3000 and my second at 8000. I'm going to switch it over to synthetic on my next one at 13,000.
P.S. I went to Toyota for the second oil change, $29 with tax.

You first oil change should be free, check your maintenence intervals manual, provided in the large Lexus manual for your vehicle. The usually include a certificate for a free 5000 oil change. (First service only).

The dealer wanted to charge me $70.29 for my free oil change.
I took the car in at 3000 miles and requested an oil change. The
guy writing up the order called me over and said that this car does
not need an oil change yet. I said, I know but I want to have it changed
now and I will have it changed again at 6000 miles and put synthetic
in it. He said OK.
Then when they were done, they wanted me to pay the $70.29.
$20 of that was for the filter. I even told them that I did not want the
car washed.
I finaly ended up not having to pay for it but their excuse was that
"we were not going to charge you for the next change at 6000 miles"
And that at that time they will also rotate my tires on my 350.
Yea, shure buddy! Then my staggered tires will rub.
Needles to say I am changing my own oil next time and buying the
filter from a Toyota dealer where they are a lot cheaper for the
same filter.

Do you get loaners if you take it to a Toyota dealer? I'm guessing most dealers won't offer one. I'd love to take it to toyota, but with my work schedule I am unable to wait for the car so I have to take it into Lexus in the morning, grab a loaner and pick it up after work.

I would probably do every other oil change myself cause i don't have the tools to change the other fluids if they needed it. 50 bones WOW when I was in AZ i used to take my 02 IS to Bell Lexus for oil changes and It was cheaper than Jiffy Lube I think that Bell was like $24 all said and done. Maybe there is a big diff between the old and new IS's.

I would never take any of my cars to Jiffy Lube. Just last night one of the news stations here did an investigation with hidden camera's on 9 Jiffy Lube locations around LA county. 5 of the 9 locations did not perform the maintainance jobs that they charged the customers for. When they confronted the store managers, the only comment they had was that they need to speak with the district manager. When the reporters found the district manager, he denied that he was the district manager all together.
