Default Wheel size for IS220d

Hi, I'm new to this forum and have what I hope is a not too difficult technical question.
i have a new ( 2006 ) model IS 220d. Iwould like to have a new set of wheels for the car - specifically 18" size. I know that if you purchase a new IS220d complete with the 18" wheels they come as 8x18" on the front and 8.5x18" on the rear. The wheels I would like - Tetecnomagnesio Detroit's - only come in 8.5 x18". My question is could I fit 8.5 x18" to all four wheels without a problem and if so, what tyre sizes would you recommend. I note that in Europe at least, the recommended size of tyre for the 8.5 x18" wheel ( at least at the rear) is 255x40. However, most of the known tyre manufacturers here only do 255x35 for 8.5x18 " wheels.
Any advice would be mosr welcome.

you could probably use the same tire sizes as the 18" OEM wheels we get in the states

18" RWD :
Front: 225/40/18, 18x8, +45mm
Rear: 255/40/18, 18x8.5, +50mm

I see what you are saying about the tyre sizes but do you agree that 8.5x18 can be fitted on all four wheels without any problem ?

You will want/need to use a wider tire with the 8.5, which means that you will likely get tire rubbing. Many people here with aftermarket large wheel/tire combos accept some rubbing as unavoidable and don't seem to have any problems. I personally would not accept any tire rubbing due to safety concerns.
