How did you first hear about the 2IS?
Car magazine? Saw it on the road? Online reviews? Lexus website? Taste of Lexus Event? Friend or colleague? Work in the auto industry and thus naturally knew about it? ClubLexus forum? (Btw, does anyone think this should be a poll? If so, I'll modify it later...)
I'm a first-time Lexus owner, so I had no idea about the coming of the new IS until I was seriously car-shopping. I was planning on getting a G35 coupe, but while doing some online research on it, a skyscraper ad popped up about the IS350, which directed me to the Lexus website. The same weekend, a friend of mine went to the Taste of Lexus event in El Toro. He gave a big to the IS350.

I almost bought an IS300 last year when someone at the car show told me Lexus is coming out with a second gen and that I've I went with the 300 I'd be crazy. I agreed, and waited a year.

was actually looking for a Boxter or S2000 as a "3rd" car and was looking at a Boxter at a Lexus dealerships website. Ended up at the homepage where the IS was on front. I knew they were out but never gave them a serious look.
Anyway, did some online research from 11pm-4am on a sat night and went and traded in the Magnum RT for one the next day.

Lexus website in January for me. I don't make a point of keeping up with all the developments in the new car world when I'm happy with what I'm already driving. I was in love with my old car, but reliability issues cropped up far too soon and, reluctantly, I decided it was time to start car shopping. I caught sight of an SC430, which reminded me that I once thought that would be a desirable car. I went to the Lexus website, took a gander at the SC430's MSRP, and was reminded why I had decided the SC was not for me after all! A used SC would be within budget, but when I moved down the model line-up to check out the new IS, I quickly realized that this was the right Lexus for me. I caught up on my reading about the IS during the agonizing weeks of waiting to get mine.

I was in the market for a new car, was waiting how Lexus would do with the IS. Went to NYC auto show in April, 2005. went looking for the IS, saw it, loved it, waited for a year, bought it in January, 2006.

I saw an ad for it on Yahoo Finance, believe it or not. I was like, wow, what's a nice looking car! Wow, 306 hp? What... it's a Lexus??? And now I am a proud owner of a Lexus, about 30-40 years before I ever thought I'd be considering one.
