Blackout Headlight Housing

Definitely not something for amateurs and inexperienced people to attempt. Took 4 hours, stock sealant is unlike what we've experienced before, the stock sealant has a higher melting temperature than previously done vehicles. Took a long time to melt it and remove. Here are the pictures.




What the 2IS looks like without bumper and headlights






The pieces all seperated. The headlights are holded in by only 3 bolts that are easy to locate once the bumper is off. Then disconnect the wire harness to take the headlights to a work table. Then on the back of the headlight, there are 3 screws holding on the wiring harness. Another 3 screws holding the lense to the housing. Once you melt the sealant enough to remove the lens, the chrome piece is held in the lens by another 3 screw and it clips into lens.






The chrome piece painted black. We were going to just remove the orange reflector piece but only to realize it leaves a gaping hole in the chrome which may cause condensation. So we just painted it black to allow no light to pass through (although we didn't put enough black on it, it still shows through a little.
