Thoughts on perforated leather
What are your thoughts on perforated leather versus standard leather? I would think
the perforated leather would crack easier at the holes. I don't know if that's true.
And does the IS 250 AWD have perforated leather in the front and back seats? I stopped at
a dealer and saw a base 250 AT with perforated leather in the front and back seats. I don't
remember seeing that in the AWD model. Strange.

I think perforated leature is standard for AWD IS250 along with heated seats.
They are really cool but not sure about cracks. My IS350 came with PP and i have perforated seats.

The perforated leather is good because it lets your body breathe better than the solid leather, even if you don't have the ventilated seats turned on.
It should not crack more easily than the solid because the holes throughout the seat should give more compliancy than solid leather. It's pretty soft. Also, it shouldn't crease/wrinkle as much as the solid leather.
The best thing to do if you are concerned about this, such as if you live in a hot and dry climate, is to use leather conditioner two or three times a year.

I don't think you need to condition it every month, I've heard 2 times a year is good enough.
The perforations don't need to be saturated, 'cuz it can leave crud in the holes over time. Wipe the
sides first then finish in the center with the perforations.

After having perforated seats on my previous car and my 2IS, I dont think I can live without it. When I look at a pic of car interior with non-perforated seats I get dizzy for some reason.
I think conditioning with Lexol Leather conditioner 3 to 4 times a year is sufficient.
