Default Good news for prospective buyers...

My informant (at the dealer) tells me that Lexus is increasing their production of the IS by 4x.
Premium pkg (PT) and Premium + Nav will be standardized along with the base models.
This build should arrive early March. (well, for Southeast Region, anyway.)
Can anyone confirm this for other regions?

Increased production, slightly lower demand... better deals.
Good luck.

what do you mean by standardized for PT and Premium + NAV?

i came in here thinking you were gonna say the magic words of manual or coupe

lol. that would be too easy.

the Luxury pkg (LT) and other combinations I didn't list are considered "special orders."
Good luck waiting on those (16 weeks minimum).

This new build will increase the available number of PT pkgs and PT+Nav available without special ordering.

if this is true this is great news, they will have the capacity to produce a coupe/manual if they can make 4x as many cars, *crossing fingers*

all in all demand drives supply.
its obviously high if they have the need to increase it 4x.. if they can sustain this kind of a demand to supply ratio, you would not get any better of a deal. its still hard to get the car right now with the options you want unless you'll settle for anything that says IS 250 or 350 on it.

Say it ain't so . All the dealers I've spoken to say 11-12 weeks, I know you can't always believe them, but I was going with the strength in numbers/wishful thinking mentality. Please don't burst my bubble yet.

I was at the dealership today and the saleswoman said that an IS convertible was coming out. That was the first I'd heard of that.

true. no quibbles about high demand.

All I'm saying is that instead of having to wait for the occasional PT pkg to come out, it will produced in greater number.

(For southern regions, it doesn't make sense NOT to have ventilated leather seats. I don't like being seared like a steak every summer day in atlanta with leather seats.)

My supposition is that demand for the IS is still high but not increasing whereas the limited supply is. At some point the demand will be satisfied and the plants will start to reduce their numbers.

Rock, you're in MD, right? That's the Eastern region?
I'm curious if this change is reflected there too...

Default hmm...

I wonder if this is why my dealer didn't flinch at coming to a deal to get me the premium package I was holding out for? Originally it was going to be a big deal, special order 3-4 months. Then they came back and said they could get me the car in about a month. I hope this pans out to be true, especially for manual tranny's. I ordered a Crystal White/Cashmere, manual, Premium pkg, 18" alloys.

Yes, it is the south, and I wanted those seat coolers this summer!
