ASL working? on IS350
Does anyone know if the ASL makes any difference? I can never tell that its working. Today i had the window down and the volume didnt automatically adjust. Anyone else know anything about this?

Speaking of ASL. I wish the Nav voice was louder at loud stereo volume. If I play the stereo over 30, I can barely hear the nav voice. That was always al problem on the '03 as well. Seems even the loudest nav voice isn't enough, and it's too loud when the stereo is on at a lower level. You'd think they could figure out a more logical way to do the nav voice. Stereo volume = X, Nav voice = X + 5.

You should be able to adjust the volume of the bichin betty. You'll need to get into the set up portion of the menu.

I guess I'll just turn the ASL off and turn up the volume manually. I hate it when the balance of treble and bass go haywire...

ASL kicks in at 50 MPH...
You can definitely drown out "Betty" with your volume control. The first thing I like to do when setting up the Nav is turn off the voice recognition guidance on page 2. There are ways to make "Betty" less pronounced but I don't know of a way to make her louder after you exhaust the volume settings. It's like 2 speakers fending off 10 speakers, not really fair to "Betty".
I haven't gotten to know "Maria" yet. "Bridgit" is always good if your hungover....It would be cool to actually meet these real women who worked diligently so we could find our way in the night...
Imagine you're at a bar and you hear a familiar voice and then it hits you why....Are you ah...Betty?

Does anyone know the genesis of the term "Betty" to refer to the woman inside the machine? Is it a military term?
