Believe it or not, it's the law in California, but it is almost never enforced.

I went to Magnussen's Lexus of Fremont and they did it in about 5 minutes. My service advisor was Randall, and he didn't even ask if I bought it there. He just took my car somewhere, and came back and said "You're good to go" and I was on my way.

I'm ok with the DRL, but I don't like the color as some people have mentioned. I bought new bulbs, the Slyvania 2005 SU, but it looks exactly like the stock ones (also Sylvania) for the IS350. My Subaru also had DRLs, and they were yellowish too, so I got used to them anyway. I try to remember that I'm driving the car, not looking at it, but I can still see the yellow actually, which bothers me.
I'm still looking for whiter bulbs, including the Park Lights. Tried searching for more info but no avail. Some people have the LEDs, but couldn't find posts on them. Maybe people offer some solutions? (PM if you do)
DRL really helps, especially for those that forget to turn on their lights. I pay attention to these drivers, but sometimes I wonder how they can forget to turn on their lights when it's so friggin' dark outside.

No lights at night is one of the key items police use to identify drunk drivers. Apparently it's one of the most common things drunks forget to do when they drive.
