IS 350 Back seat room
I am waiting for delivery of my new is 350 and was wondering if anyone can shed some light on the small back seat room. We have a two year old and will be installing a childseat into the latch system. Primarily I'm wondering about the daily activities of getting a child or adult in and out as compared to a true midsize sedan. Also I would like some feedback on the trunk space and how it compares to others you have owned.
I've sat in the car both front and back during the buying process and feel good about the purchase however the feedback will help me understand things from an owners experience.
I've been driving ford explorers for the past five years (company car) and I know I'm giving up a great deal of space for the performance and luxury. Something I welcome with open arms.

Trunk space is good, but the coupe shaped back end means the trunk has a large overhang, so don't expect to fit any dimensionally big objects in there (like boxes, etc).
As for the back seat, I think only in America would a parent ***** about having to fit his kid back there, but the salesman I test drove the car with specifically mentioned he "wouldn't like to have to put a car seat back there". It's not the most rear seat room in the world, but it works well enough. Like you said, give and take.

The back seat is pretty comfortable to get in and out of, but knee room is cramped for adults taller than about 5'8 or so. This doesn't really impact child seats much, however, so as long as that's your primary concern, you have nothing to worry about.
As for the trunk, it's easier to access and roomier than any other car in its class save the Acura TL, but it's no Explorer. As heffergm said, you won't be fitting any big boxes back there because of the overhang, but you can pack it full of grocery bags or slip a couple of decent-sized suitcases in there pretty easily.
