Question IS250 AWD Moonroof Rattle

Hi All,

Just wanted to see if anyone else has this problem. Whenever I have the moonroof on the tilt position, it rattles when I go over bumps. I just want to know if it was normal, if not, I will bring it in to the dealer for service.

Thanks

Not normal. Just ran out and checked this -- I can put mine in tilt and drive around the speed bumps in the parking lot and there's no rattle. Time to call your dealer...

Mine rattles but only when closed - no rattle when tilted. When you say it's been documented at the dealership do you mean by you or it's a known issue? Thanks.

Sorry for the confusion, I just meant that the dealer confirmed my problem and is going to take care of it- not that its a known issue

My roof "squeeks" as well. It sounds like the rubber rubbing the body. When I tilt the roof it goes away, and when I close the shade I dont hear it...one of these days I plan to lubricate the rubber (im not sure how yet) to avoid a trip to the dealer, if that doesnt work Ill take it in....it is the ONLY sound I hear in the car while driving.....it would be better to hear silence....

HaHa...It's a known problem. So far the Lexus guys are still waiting for the response from Japan. I was told they have a temporary solution to fix it by sticking the portion that makes the noise. I dunt have mine to fix because it takes a whole day to get it done

Now I can even hear the noise when the moonroof closed

One of the few things I don't like about moonroofs. Sqeaks, rattles, and the potential for leaks as it
ages.

i had the same problems on my is250. whenever i close the sunroof, i can hear the rattling and squeeking noise. strangely, the noise always goes away overnight

i informed the dealership when i brought my car in for the 5000 mile service...they addressed the issue for free by "lubricating the contact points" on the sunroof...according to the paper work.

i haven't tried to see whether this helped, i hope this wasn't just a temporary solution!

Mine started rattling when in the tilt position recently and I was going to take it in and have it taken care of. After reading this post, it dawned on me that I had detailed the car just days before this started, and I cleaned under the sunroof - obviously a little too well.

I guess some of that grease was supposed to be there. <dumb look>

A little dab here and there on the obvious contact points and a few full open/close cycles and the rattle is gone. I wouldn't have thought of it if not for this post. Thanks!
