Default Override Nav Motion Lock

I just came across these EASY instructions to override the nav lock when the car is moving. Can someone try it on their car and see if it really works....I'm still waiting on my car. If it works it sure beats opening up and cutting the wires!

There are other threads on this. It allows you to enter destinations while driving, not for the bluetooth or mp3s like the wire cutting mod.

old news. very old. a quick search would have given you several dozen hits on this topic, many of them specifically outlining exactly what this override accomplishes, which is not very much...and you still need to make additional modifications in order to play DVDs while moving. Also this override must be performed everytime you start your car; "cut wires" and you won't have to.

Thanks Kensteele. I have read the other threads and have the detailed instructions printed out with pictures that was provided on that thread. I was hoping this would avoid having to do that. I won't be playing DVD's since I didn't order the ML. These instructions will probably work fine for me when I use the Nav as I got the Nav option 99% for the Bluetooth function. I also thank you for the Valentine 1 install instructions. Hate to go off thread but do you have the blinder/jammer in addition to the radar detector. Do you think a person should have both?

The override function won't unlock the bluetooth functions on the navi unit. Without the mod, you'll still be limited to dialing your speed dials or using voice recognition when the car is moving, and even worse, you'll deal with the lawyer induced misfeature of the caller-id phone number blanking out.

Bichon is right. The only thing that is going to do for you is allow you to use the destination screen while you are moving. And even then, you have to do that every time you turn on the car. The only way to use the rest of the features of the Nav including all of the bluetooth options are to do the wire hack. Which really isn't hard at all. Especially with all of the pictures and directions on here.

Absolutely not. I've had a dozen radar detectors since my first, the original Escort, in 1985 up until the V1 today and I have never had the need to jam a police unit. Not only is there a question of legality but also I cannot find a single source that claims they work 100%. As long as they don't work 100%, you run the risk of getting caught because you rely on it to jam because you're actually being clocked speeding. OTOH, you don't rely on a radar detector you know that's not what it is for but they do work 100% meaning they do alert always and they do pickup when they are supposed to but it's up to you to look out and/or slow down.

I never drive so fast that I would need a jammer to save my ****, if you're going that fast, most cops will nab you anyway. Chances are when you need the blinder the most, that's when it will fail you. Using them both together is overkill IMO. Maybe, maybe not but ultimately it's the legal issues (particularly radar) that bother me.

The Nav override was discovered a while ago here on CL starting w/the new GS last year. This procedure works with the New GS, New IS, RX330 nav systems.

I can't say that the jammers work 100% of the time and never fail. But we've done a test with a laser and radar gun and the K-40 Jammer. And on every pass we did (10 Passes), there was either an error on the gun or it would say like 15 or 20 MPH. We were using a BMW 645 and the average speed was between 80-100MPH. With the K-40, it has a built in detector so when it does detect laser or radar, you still should slow down. Even though you weren't clocked at 80, the cop can still tell your speeding when you pass him and give you a failure to obey a traffic control device or some ***** like that.
