Default IS question about sport package

My friend lives in Fontana, California zip code 92336.

She is wanting a new IS with everything in it. Sport package as well (doesnt want that auburn maple wood trim) Naviagation and mark levinson sound.

Her preferred color choice is Smoky granite mica with black interior.

As far as it being the IS250 or the 350, she will decide that later becasue from what i know, the IS with sport package in either drivetrain is almsot impossible to find at dealerships or even build on lexus.com. (I did however find some on ebay)..

So witht hat being said...I have two questions...My first question is ..what should she do? custom order the car thru lexus dealership? And if doing so, will she get any price discount? cuz im sure goign to a dealership and getting a car on the lot will opt for some discount.

secondly, what will be the MSRP of the IS250 with the sport package and mark levinson navigation and the MSRP of the IS350 with the same sport package and mark levinosn and naviaation??

thank you

yes she needs to custom order for sure, i don't think the car will just "come" like that. you can talk to lexus of glendale, they are a vendor here and they are very good to talk to

Have the dealer do a west coast search. We just drove home a IS350 silver/black sport/ML/Nav last night. I know the Portland dealer has more coming in.

i put in 04103 zipcode...it didnt give me nothign with sport package for IS250 rwd. But when u put in that zipcode with is350 it does give you sport package options. According to lexus.com it says sport package is only avaiable on RWD. doesnt specify if its available for both 350 and 250...how confusing!

Can she wait? I've heard conflicting stories, but I believe if she waits she will be able to get exactly what she wants - Lexus is planning to sell 3 times as many new ISs as the old style. With plans to sell that many, she'll be able to negotiate below MSRP once the market gets flooded. If she wants to order one with Sport NOW, I doubt she'll have any bargaining power, as Sport equipted new ISs are more difficult to find. Not sure about everything above, but just my observations.

Actually she doesnt care about the price though...i was just making speculation about that.

What i think is really stupid is i even called lexus customer service and asked..

me: "can you just tell me if the 06 IS can have the sport package on both the is250 RWD and IS350 RWD?

her: according to the lexus site it says rwd only under sport package.

me: ok i already knwo that. its confusing becasue it doesnt say if its offered for both.

her: the brochure says rwd only.

me: that doesnt answer the question. why is it so hard for you to just tell me?

her: sir i dont know. im reading what is given to me.

me: can you please find out if it means BOTH 250 and 350 since both have RWD

her: im guessing it will apply to both. im not sure. let me ask. *2 minute pause* . sir i dont know. let someone get back to you in 2 days.

me: ok (how stupid..these guys dont even know)

my friend wants to know just like i do so that she can make a better decision on which one to go with. If its only offered on the 350 then she doesnt have a choice. But at least freakin tell us Lexus!

For what it's worth I am able to special build an IS250 RWD in our system here at work with Sport Package. From everything I've seen internally it does indeed appear that you can get an IS250 with Sport Package... I've just not seen one in the flesh yet. However an associate of mine has ordered one so we'll see...

Even as Toyota/Lexus employees we can't really order things that aren't available somewhere in North America as an option so at least one region has this as an option, although it doesn't appear to be available in the Central region.

If price isn't a concern, you could find a dealership than can get this option and have them ship it to you. I live in SC, but had to travel to WV to get one and they found it in NH. The same dealership was shipping a sports package to someone in FL. For that type of order you would probably have to settle on MSRP and I'm sure I'm guessing that shipping costs would be no more than a 1K? That route may be quicker than waiting 120 days on a special order.

Go to Longo Lexus in El Monte, or Crown Lexus right by you and check out their inventory, I picked up my IS250 with premium and sport package from Crown Lexus in NOVEMBER last Year 2005.

I waited 8 weeks for my Tungsten Silver IS350 Sport. Worth the wait! My car has Navi, DVD changer, Sport Pkg, and Mark Levinson. If you go to the website and use a West Coast zip code to build one, you will get limited options. If you use an East Cost zip code you get different options. When I originally ordered my IS350, I was told by the dealer I could not have the ML system. East coast builds only. If I am goig to pay $43,000 for a car, I want it the way I want. I insisted and they got me the car. AWESOME car! I had the IS300 and a BMW and there is NO compaison.

Stick to your instincts and get it configured the way you want. GOOD LUCK

I'm on the east coast and when I went to buy my car, I was told that ML is available on midwest builds only. Since the option didn't appear when I entered my zip code in the "build it" section of the Lexus website, I believed him. Not getting ML is the biggest regret I have with this car.
