Congrats on the new ride, enjoy it cause 1 day you will look back and wish it had only 140 miles on it and for the black swirls, get used to them and spend time on www.autopia.org, I wash and wax my black max every weekend, black shows everything

When I brought my IS, it already had 100 miles on it. Don't worry about it! Just ENJOY it.

Mine had 52 miles. That's because I showed up at the dealership at 3 PM on a Saturday and 4 other people had test driven it before I got there and another person test-drove it while I was finishing up docs for the funding and once completed, promptly told them to stop letting people drive the car. The car had about 13 miles before the dealership opened that day.

They add up fast but I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Cheers,
Kermee

1) I was told that the car was brand new, but found out at the end that it had 140 miles on it. They told me that it was used as a test drive vehicle few times. Is this way too many miles for a new car?

2) I can see quite a few swirl marks and couple tiny scratches. Is this normal for a black car, or did I buy a car that was potentially not taken the best care of?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
From the tone of your post, this was not a car you walked into the dealership and picked out, but one that the dealer got for you. A "brand new" car should have less than 20 miles (usually less than 10), unless the dealership had to take it to, say, a tint shop for you before delivery. One hundred forty miles means that it has been test driven (don't know how hard); although 140 is just a small fraction in the life of this car, it's the feeling that someone else "broke her in" that hurts. Just enjoy the car, don't worry about it.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I really appreciate it. I guess it's my fault for being impatient. But the Lexus dealers made it seem very complicating to order the car, so I kinda got frustrated. I hope there isn't anything seriously wrong with the car... does anybody know if it matters that I got the assistant manager to give me in writing that the car was not a demo?
