You could listen to DVDs this way, but you couldn't watch them. The auxiliary jack is stereo-audio only, not video.

The nav unit that comes with the ML system has a completely different wiring harness than the standard nav, including a set of video-input connections for the DVD player. The standard nav unit not only doesn't have the software to switch video sources, it doesn't physically have hardware jacks to do it, either. You'd need to splice the RGB wires going to the display screen, install a video switch compatible with the display, bridge in your DVD player, and then find a way to control the thing from the outside so that you could switch input sources to the screen.

All in all, that's a lot more than $1500 worth of hardware (and labor). If you want DVD functionality, buy the ML system or make do with a laptop player.

Very true, but if someone already has a non ML car, this could be a option for them.

most of the leather interiors I have seen/owned have leather SEATING SURFACES but the rest is vinyl which is why you get the different feel. I know some manufacturers offer full leather interiors but lexus is not one of them. in fact most invoices/brochures state specifically leather seatin surfaces or inserts.
