RWD Obsessed. True manuals for me. I know the SMG is faster (BMW SMG) than a traditional stick, but it just never feels like you are part of the car synchronization. Hard to explain.
And to whomever said his friend thougth SMG on a BMW was still tough in traffic, must not know how to drive an automatic car. SMGII on e46 M3's has an automatic option.

ive driven the m3 smgII (made even more uncomfortable after a Dinan S2 upgrade which included much more aggressive shifting) and can safely say at stop and go traffic its not really that bad to drive. In fact, its more of a pain to drive my civic si in stop and go traffic despite it being an easy manual car.
the paddle shifters on the IS350 (just got one) is great for downshifts, but upshifting takes an aggravating second or so. during my test drive i would consistently hit the upshift paddle a second time causing me to go in a gear higher than i wanted because i wasnt sure if i hit the paddle. a good point from another thread was to set the rpm light indicator at an rpm where by the time it reaches near redline the car will have upshifted to the next gear (of course timing will be based on your driving style).
all in all i prefer the paddles, which allows the driver to have both hands constantly on the stearing wheel and shifting can be made faster than even a traditional manual (smgII).
