i don't think this is a serious problem, or maybe a problem at all...

I've been hearing noise when pulling out of my driverway too! I was just thinking about it today, I really hope its nothing.. its only when the steering wheel is fully turned.

Every car that I've ever had made a noise when the wheel is completely turned to either direction. I was actually reading something that explained the reason for the noise, a few days ago. You can't all be experiencing the standard sound of turning your steering wheel too far, can you?

The first time it happened to me, I thought it was either a FWD tendency or my wheels were misaligned. Apparently, it's normal.

I think it's the Lexus IS ghost haunting your cars because, in the scheme of things, you relatively few guys have IS250's and 350's and most of us do NOT!!!! And we're envious as hell too!!!

Think you can find that explanation again?

Nah, thats not true,, i think your referring to when you are maybe in like a
early model american car and you turn the wheel all the way and
you hear the power steering make a whining noise... I consider
myself a very perceptive person, and I've owned and driven quite a few
cars in the past 17 yrs and i think i woulda noticed it before..

I'll try to find the article again, but it may have been in the newspaper.

All the cars I have now, including an '04 RX330 and '00 LS400, have always made a noise if the wheel is held at either extreme while the car is moving. I was taught to ease it slightly from either end to eliminate the noise and any damage that it could cause (I think it was to the power steering).

Most likely this can't be the problem that you're all having, because everyone I know have known about this in their cars.

Well i think it has to do with the tires on the front turning at different rotational speed. Its really apparent on trucks. i think the same thing is happening with our cars. my friend explained it to me once.

lots of speculation, can any one confirm if this is a problem or give a valid explanation what this noise is from?
