Default Lexus IS250 vs. Audi A4 2.0T FSI comparison review by a Taiwanese Magazine

And now here's my translation of the review and the results.

Lexus IS250 vs. Audi A4 2.0T FSI

The Cool and Sharp Lexus IS250
Pros: charming exterior design, excellent handling, compliant ride
Cons: (lack of) low-end torque, exhaust note could be sportier
Engine: 2500cc V-6
Horsepower: 204hp
Torque: 25.5kgm
MSRP: NT$1,830,000 (US$54,580)

Power response-wise, both of the editors think the IS250 is better. The IS250 is especially better in terms of engine refinement and power delivery of the transmission.

Steering precision is excellent with vibration kept at a minimum.

Back seat room is not great. Worse than the A4. (Note how the model had to pose like that. Enticing nonetheless. )

Interior is excellent. The gauges include a tire pressure monitor.

Lexus has better brand image than Audi, thanks probably to its higher positions in the J. D. Power rankings.

The Audi A4 2.0T FSI with a Solid Attitude
Pros: assembly quality, material quality, great handling for a front-wheel drive
Cons: dated exterior design, poor resale value
Engine: 1984cc Turbo I-4
Horsepower: 200hp
Torque: 28.6kgm
MSRP: NT$2,010,000 (US$59,948)

Engine output is broad and linear, but due to an over-protective ECU program, the transmission is not as able to deliver power as demanded.

Aside fom the (worse) steering feel, the handling capability is on par with the IS250.

Both the backseat room and the cargo space are better than the IS250.

The interior assembly is of great quality and the materials used are solid.

Despite appearing to be beating the MB and BMW in brand image in Europe in recent years, Audi is still lacking in Taiwan.

BTW, the IS250 are sold in only two different configurations in Taiwan. The base model is a basic one with faux aluminum trim and leather. The premium model includes every possible option except Nav and PCS/ACC, BUT what's strange to us is that it has the Sport Package (with sport suspension and aluminum pedals) with WOOD trim, as shown in this picture.

Just thought it's something interesting to point out.

Nice review.

And this round, Jimmy Clarkson tanked in the aesthetic category.
