hapaboy,

It worked for me. Here's exactly what I did. Print the instructions out and take it to the car with you. Go over in your head all the steps and then try it again. Good Luck

3. turn the ignition to the LOCK (OFF) position
4. unbuckle the driver's seatbelt if it was buckled.
5. turn the key to the ON position again press the start button twice. when the dash lights comes on, press and hold the trip reset button and count a slow 12 seconds. (editor's note, hold it more like 30 sec)
6. while still holding the trip reset button, buckle the driver's side seatbelt.
7.and the odometer display should read "b ON" or "b OFF". toggle the beep OFF with the trip reset.
8. the process should be completed when you unbuckle or turn the key off.

It doesn't turn off the beep when you get in the car and start it without the belt on. It turns off the beep that screams at you if you start to drive with the belt off. You can't get rid of the first chime, only the second one. Your b-oFF indicates the second chime is properly disabled.

Most performance mods need a watch and timed course to demonstrate actual improvement. Few deliver the advertised claims. Many are actually worse than stock. The best performance mods are made to the driver.

Well, let's see if I can summarize the instructions...

1. Have the seatbelt OFF
2. Have your foot OFF the brake, press STARTER ON/OFF button twice.
2. Press trip reset button (on left side of panel) until odo is displayed.
3. Press STARTER button to turn off.
4. Grab your seatbelt so you have easy access to it.
5. Foot OFF the brake, press STARTER ON button twice
6. Press and hold down trip reset button, and buckle the seat belt after 25 seconds.
7. "b ON" or "b OFF" should appear (as in your picture), toggle to "b OFF"
8. Unbuckled your seat belt, wait 5 seconds and turn the car OFF.

I hope this works for you.

ok, i was under the impression that we could disable the 5 chimes when the car (engine) is started, without the seatbelt on. it will disable the chime if the seatbelt is not put on by the driver OR passenger after a short period of driving. ok, thanks! does the passenger belt light still come on? won't know myself because i don't drive any passengers! hah!

well, if ANYONE knows how to disable the first 5 chimes after the start. please post. i feel this is much more handy as most of you put the belt on after backing out of a driveway or out of a parking garage. myself included, i like to start the car without my belt on, wait until the tach goes to 1000rpms, and then get it in gear, which takes about 20-40 seconds.

I hope toyota/Lexus takes off this option soon. If you don't want the seat belt to charm, wear it. Doesn't matter if it's 5mph on your drive way or 15mph seconds away from home on a cul-de-sac. Seat belts are there to save you from injuries when ACCIDENTS happen.

People can't be bothered with facts like those. They'd rather disable the chime and then sue Lexus for having a hard windshield when their face goes through it.

Thank you! I asked the dealer to do this and they wouldn't or couldn't. Now it's fixed.

hold for longer than 12 seconds. When I did it...I think I literally held it for 35 seconds or so.

My seatbelt alarm goes crazy sometimes and keeps beeping after my passenger has left the car. Anyone else experience this?

You ever hear of "Click it or Ticket"? Don't want to hear the bells? Put the seat belt on and it's goes away. How about that?
