Metallic trim vs Wooden trim
I personally have not seen the metallic trim, but from the pictures I've seen, it doesn't look half bad and actually matches the colors of the interior of the IS. But, I've heard from people that it is just cheap plastic painted over to look like a metallic trim? Although the wood is kind of tacky, I personally think it makes the car look more luxurious, I'm pretty sure this topic has been discussed already, but I just want to hear people's opinions.. so for the people with the wooden trim, are you content with it? Also with the metallic trim people, is it truly cheap plastic, or is it worth it?

It is plastic to look like metal
I wouldn't call it cheap however...Not sure if I would want real metal...think of a hot summer day with the car sitting in the sun..OUCH
Wood is in the Luxury version...Metastic in the sport version...seems to make sense why

I think it's all personal taste. If you prefer the luxury look then go with the wood. If you like the sporty look then go with the metallic. There is no right or wrong choice here. Both should be up to high Lexus standard.
Having said that I would be happy with either one. I will probably get the wood because it comes with the illuminated doorsill scuff plates, which I really love.

I personally like the wood...
There is already plenty of metal accents in the car and since I ordered the Sterling (gray & black) interior, I think the wood warms up all those gray & black surfaces.
There isn't much anyway... Just on the center console and the switchplates on the four doors.
One drawback to the wood... It's quite dark and since the piece on the console is horizontal, dust and dirt will really collect and show.

The wood is real genuine wood manufactured by Yamaha. It looks plastic because of the clear thick lacquer finish it has.
