U can get a GS430 fully loaded for 56-57K out the door. I would have paid 6K more and get that instead of the IS..way more refinement - comfort style design and luxury than getting an IS350.

It has everything but PCS. The GS430, equipped the same, would be $58,880 OTD. That is the discounted price. It also doesnt get quite as good gas mileage. I drove a 430 and didnt care for it's power response or handling. The IS will be my commuter car, and works well for that purpose.
Sure, $50,000 sounds like a lot, but consider that I'm paying $44,700, and the government gets the rest.
You can always add a few more dollars and get the next best thing. Where do you stop?

On topic though, I'd imagine with the invoice pricing being what I'd consider significantly cheaper than MSRP, by this time next year awesome deals should be had.

I'd be curious to know what people are finding discounts on. I wonder if discounts are being given for base models since demand appears to be skewed toward one of the two option-loaded packages, or even ML.
I can see a base model w/o nav drawing a nice discount. I can see a base model with nav drawing a small discount. Somehow I don't think a discount is going to happen on a performance or luxury model, or anything with ML. Just a guess.
