Default Question about rear bumper (little squares)

What are the little square outlines next to the reflectors in the lower half of the rear bumper? I've seen these squares on BMW cars before, but never on a Lexus until I started looking at the 2nd generation IS. My 2nd generation GS did not have them. I've seen some older BMWs with these little square caps missing from the bumper.

My suspicion is they are removable caps that hide some sort of socket that receives the jackstand in case of a flat tire. Any ideas?

I believe those are the sensors for cars equipped with the ParkAssist feature.

Should be tow hooks--jackstand points are always along the edge of the wheelbase on the underside of the vehicle (marked by a small notch). Park assist sensors are round and slightly raised.
