Thanks for the clarification. I was wishing for something more like this:

I'm thinking the color should be exactly the same since it holds the same 8R6 color code. I don't think they can change the shade and use the same color code or every body shop will not be able to mix the correect shade of color.

Yeah, I was also hoping for something like Electric Blue or that GS pic. (Actually, the 3rd gen GS has a fantasic Blue Onyx which the IS has---can't wait to see)

Come on, Lexus, this is the 'young' 'hip' '3-series fighter' -- can't it have some cool, slightly less serious colors? I mean, the design is fantastic already, very flashy and eye-catching....how about them colors?

(I reserve judgment, after all, the other colors are yet to be seen---but can't let other luxury car makers have all the fun in colors!)

Yes, that GS blue above is one of my favorite Lexus colors. Combine that with a black interior and you have a definate winning combination.

indeed, if the color code is the same, color itself is exactly the same.

Glad there's no real photo of that color. It seems that in the process of moving to the next gen both the GS and IS lost all the sporty/vibrant colors and gain all the modest/conservative colors. Gold/cashmere is probably the worst color a sporty car can have. Lexus should've kept the original bright yellow of the IS, which has always fit the sporty character very well.

(Nice shot, 4NTOY)

I've always wonder what Tungsten Pearl is since this color was listed on the Lexus Canada site. Now, I know what it is. My color choice will be Tungsten Pearl with black leather then.

Blue Onyx is the same dark blue you find on the new GS. Not quite Spectra Blue Metallic or Indigo Ink, but it is a nice colored dark blue.

I know. I'm a blue person. My ES is Blue Onyx and I love it for its rich and noble look. But if one day (probably sooner than I think) I decide to switch to the new IS, I want it to look sporty and neither the Blue Onyx nor the Breakwater Blue will do well in that regard. Spectra Blue Metallic or Indigo Ink would've been awesome.

It's a type of dye treatment of the leather, and aniline leather is supposed to be among the finest:

Agreed completely, I think the yellow and red and blue--neon-ish colors, would suit the new IS quite well. BTW, I wonder what the IS would look like with a spoiler....

I think the Matador Red looks quite sporty, but I think yellow will look horrible with the new IS.

I'm looking for a dark grey or dark blue color, so I guess Smoky Granite will be the dark grey? The Blue Onyx will be the same as the GS? The blue onyx color on the Lexus website has a green tint to it though.

The color representation you see on the website is not accurate.
