Thanx, I was hoping the IS250 will have slightly higher hp/torque than that.
U.S. will probably have a couple more color choices.
What exactly is Tungsten Pearl ?
2 Black's & no plain silver color ? That's very unusual

If 310 is correct that is terrific and the torque is not bad either. Can't wait to drive this car.

Well, if thats the official word, then thats still pretty dman good. Only 12hp more than the G35, but I think 20 more lbtq. Pretty nice stats, and a slightly lighter body(maybe). This car is going to move out.

Wow if this information is true, Lexus has captured the crown in this class of sports sedan as far as horsepower rating is concerned. I call them four best near-luxury sports sedans:
Lexus IS350: 3.5L DOHC V6 310hp 280lb-ft of torque
Infiniti G35 sedan: 3.5L DOHC V6 298hp(6MT) 260lb-ft of torque/280hp(5AT) 270lb-ft of torque
Acura TL: 3.2L SOHC V6 270hp 238lb-ft of torque
BMW 330i: 3.0L DOHC I6 255hp 220lb-ft of torque
I gotta see the comparison of these four, no need to include others like C350 Sport, A4 3.2 quattro, S40 T5, X-Type 3.0, etc.
But there is one thing weird about the new IS350. If it really has 310hp, so it outpower its big brother GS430? A 3.5L V6 producing higher horsepower than a 4.3L V8? Hmmmmmm......

thank u much for the info. 310hps is a lot of hps and i think 2.5l V6 pushing out 180+ tq isnt so bad. i am sure that will have great fuel economy.
I,for some reason, more interested in seeing official pricing

yeah i guess so. but i am really hoping to get into base IS 350 under 36K+tax, or i would just settle with somewhat loaded IS250 6-speed.

I love the specs on the IS350. For a 3.5 and speculating all this time that it would have about 310-315 HP, the numbers and toruque @280 lbs-ft is pretty much exactly what I thought it would be. This is good news.
The IS250 on the other hand sounds a little weak for a V6 even at 2.5 liters. I thought it was going to be closer to 215-220 hp? Torque of 184 lbs-ft @ 4900 RPM sounds pretty good, but not much different than the competition IMHO. By comparions, on another topic we discussed why not the TSX and other cars as a comparison to the IS (IMHO more specifically against the IS250). People said the 4 cylinder in the TSX was no competition. The TSX I4 is rated at 200HP froma 2.4 liter engine, torque is at 166 lbs-ft @4500 RPM. The IS250 gets 18 lbs-ft more torque but at 300 RPM higher. If the weight is about the same (I think the IS250 might be lighter) than the two cars will perform nearly identical.
The question is which model will current IS300 owners move into? It appears to me the IS250 is a fairly large downgrade from the current IS300 in terms of performance and power. Will the interior alone be enough to satisfy current IS300 owners or will they have to upgrade to the IS350?
It looks like the IS350 is defintately still the car to get.
