Black Pearl is similar to flint mica, a dark grey.

I just hope its not overatted 310 hp or "assuming a 300 percent drivetrain loss" like the auto SC300 was severely overated to 225 hp (more like 185)!!! If its 310 hp this car better dyno at very least 263 rwhp or more... It better not pull the same bs it pulled 13 years ago with the SC. I just dont fanthom how lexus got away with severely overating their cars like it did, while mazda got nailed for it.

Im even a little skeptical of G35s new 298 hp rating until I see some dyno numbers of 253 rwhp or above!

Yeah, I noticed the CR too. That's pretty high.

I wouldn't bet on it. I think it will happen. Most likely thru some sort of ECU tweak. I'm speculating that if Lexus does release the same HP/torque numbers for the US market as in the Canadian market, two years later they will bump the HP/torque numbers up.

i think u meant 30% drivetrain loss, but 30% is still a lot to lose.

Those sky-high compression ratios are typical of direct-injection engines, such as the GR-FSE engines used in the 2006 Lexus IS & GS.

Lexus IS350: 3.5L DOHC V6 310hp 280lb-ft of torque
Infiniti G35 sedan: 3.5L DOHC V6 298hp(6MT) 260lb-ft of torque/280hp(5AT) 270lb-ft of torque
Acura TL: 3.2L SOHC V6 270hp 238lb-ft of torque
BMW 330i: 3.0L DOHC I6 255hp 220lb-ft of torque

I gotta see the comparison of these four, no need to include others like C350 Sport, A4 3.2 quattro, S40 T5, X-Type 3.0, etc.

But there is one thing weird about the new IS350. If it really has 310hp, so it outpower its big brother GS430? A 3.5L V6 producing higher horsepower than a 4.3L V8? Hmmmmmm......
No need to include the A4? WTF? Maybe if the only thing you're concerned about is straight-line accelleration, but if you want a real compact sports sedan (or wagon), a real total package car, the A4 is right there with the 330i as the class of the segment, and beats them all if you want awd (the IS isn't included in this statement because, well, as it's not out yet, I haven't been able to test drive it). The interior is easily best in class (the new 3 series' interior is a step backwards, especially the dash), and the car handles extremely well. Not quite as good as the 330i sports pack, no, but easily the next most enjoyable of the bunch (thank the hand-me-down suspension bits the A4 received from the S4), and it has a very nice ride. Sure, the G35's a great car in its own right, but by no means is it a better car than the A4, and the TL isn't even in this class: it's a much larger car and is front wheel drive, not to mention extremely nose heavy (60/40 front/rear). Anyways, torque steer automatically disqualifies a car as a sports sedan in my book.

There was an ongoing debate if the G35 coupe was really putting out 280hp or 20hp more then the sedan. Many people dynoed the 2 cars and the coupe was only coming up a few horsepower more and nowhere near 20. Automatic coupes and sedans were usaully getting the same 0-60 and some people thought the sedan felt faster. The sedan maybe a little lighter I believe or it maybe the older Acura TL was lighter compared to the CL I was thinking of. Some people also speculate that the newer 2.2 liter in the S2000 was underated and put out more like 250-260hp from some dyno numbers. I never heard about the SC300 being overrated in hp. Did the 2nd Gen GS300 220hp come out to be overrated?

Since it looks like we won't get the IS350 in France and that the IS300 will be gone by then, the top of the range for us will be a 201 hp IS250. That's damn low!
And according to what I've read on lexus.ca, we'll have only 205/55R16 inch tires on IS250 RWD, while we get 215/45ZR17 inch on IS200.
Does not sound as good news for me.

I don't think France will necessarily get the same wheels for the IS250 as Canada, & 201hp & 184 torque was announced in Geneva , so that shouldn't really be a surprise, it's the IS350 specs. that they have been holding off . . . it sucks that France won't be getting the 350 , why is that ?

eh, who really cares? IS220d is one to get.. read few reviews of 177hp 2.2l Avensis and people were impressed with the engine - even commented how it pulled strongly from 110mph :-).

I remeber the older 250 HP 1UZ-FE in the early SC4 and LS4 were only putting down about 180 to the wheels. That is a 70 HP loss and near 30%. When I got my 93 SC400, even with 250 HP and the supposed better RWD my 230 HP Acura Legend felt as quick or quicker. My year Legend generally put down around 175-180HP to the wheels.

In fact, 150 Kw are 204 European-HP, but it is a mess, because there are SAE HP, DIN HP, EEC HP, so I don't dare to bet for 204 EEC HP.

I'm not sure about IS 350 in Spain, they talk about IS250 and IS22d, I tought we'll get IS350 too.

Why would EU not get the IS 350 if customers ask for it (loudly)?

I think that 204 hp and 250 Nm sounds good for the IS 250. This car will be much faster than the current IS 200 and considerably cheaper than the IS 300.

I have never seen Lexus overate or even Toyota. They are conservative or accurate with figures.
The thing about the G35s more hp is, 18 more hp in the coupe is not even a 10% increase. You won't feel any difference in ANY car with a small bump in power like that. And with less low-end torque, the in your seat feeling will be nothing. The car was already swift. I think people see "300hp" and just get excited.

The VQ Maxima owners I think had a pettion against NIssan b/c their cars were not making the 255hp claimed in the 5th gen. The Altima was making equal power with a 240hp rating.

The anniverary 350Z makes 300hp but it seems in tests its the same thing, you can't tell any difference in power. Its really a nice "paper" bump to keep people interested in the car during the end of its product cycle.

I don't know why people are so caught up in peak power. It is VERy rare to drive in that rev range. What is important is, is the gearing matched with low RPM power/torque. That is where you drive most.

I would figure most luxury car owners drive under 3000RPM at 70mph.
