Default is 350 awd?

Think Lexus will ever build something like this? I know they have plans for awd in the is 250, but it would be nice to have the choice of awd in something with more power. Think this is something they may have in the pipeline?

I think an awd is350 would fill a niche that is currently missing. It would compete with Audi/BMW/Mercedes who all offer higher hp awd choices. Just a thought, and I'm sure it's one the Lexus people are pondering.

Too early to tell. Lexus has to study how well the sales of the IS250 AWD fair first before they even think about releasing an IS350 AWD. Just be patient. The new IS is not even out yet. All the news people are brinigng in here in the forums are pure speculation. When the official word comes out of any Lexus release, CL members are always the first to know. Take what you read here w/a grain of salt.

This IMO is going to be some of the most interesting competition in the industry next year....the 2.5L IS300 AWD and the Subaru Legacy/Outback 2.5L and 2.5 Turbo AWD. If Lexus holds the line on IS AWD pricing, then both of them are going to be superb values for the money.....the Subies already are, with Lexus-like quality and fit-and-finish at Subaru prices.

I was actually surprised when they didn't do it for the GS430, since you can get the E500 in AWD. However, the (new) Infiniti M45 and the BMW 545i aren't available with AWD, while their 6-cylindered verisions do have it available. I think they want to preserve the all-out sport with their larger engine models?

It could also have to do with how larger engines fit in the available space up front with the transmissions, and if there is adequate space left over for the front differential and drive shafts.

Precisely the reason that has been given for the absence of an AWD variant of the GS430, according to the monthlies. Presumably the same problem may be present with the 3.5L motor in the smaller IS.

The Crown Majesta is a huge vehicle though, but that's a good point about the annual introduction of a new feature... although it would **** off a lot of people who bought the car the year before

Toyota even has that v12 car with the front passenger seat back that opens so the back passenger car slide their legs forward!

They should sell those here.

Isn't that often the case with many cars

If the audi A6 & E class can have V8 awd & they aren't really bigger than the GS, there's no reason they can't design the GS with V8 awd in mind

Forget about A6 and E. The Germans can host a V8 with AWD in the S4/RS4. Now why can't Lexus?

That's why I don't buy that reason, they may feel it's not a volume seller & probably want to test the market with the V6 awd first & hold the V8 until later . . .
