I received my Automobile issue about 4 days ago,and it has the horsepower listed as
204hp for the IS250 and 315hp for the IS350. The numbers are listed as captions next to the pic of the Geneva show IS. Now I don't know if this is pure speculation but I think those are pretty accurate numbers. I'll post up the article later on today and let you guys that haven't seen it take a look. What I don't really understand though, is why Lexus would leave such a big horsepower gap between these vehicles. I mean why would I buy an IS250? When for a few thousand more,I get 111 hp more.

I too think that 315hp sounds like a realistic figure. When will we know for sure? I'm so impatient.

That extra 100HP gets you less than 2s improvement in 0-60 times. The gap just looks big because of the numbers on paper. In real life the two cars will be much closer. And when the IS inherits the 3.0L V6 from the GS in a couple of years the gap will narrow.

I mean a stock "225 hp" rated sc300 should not be dynoing in the 150 and 160 rwhp range... Makes me think my car really has 180-190 bhp in reality. (I doubt even the worst of the trannies is sucking up that much power! Come on lexus admit it power was overinflated with this car! Just like ford did with the 1999 Cobra!) I guess lexus is lucky this car didnt come out recently and thus got away with it this time.
If this new IS350 will be rated at 300+ hp then it well better be putting 255+ rwhp!! The (IS250 should do no worse then 170 rwhp!

You guys are asking way too much for a car that has yet to be released in October. Be patient and wait for the car to come out. Then 2-3 years later, think up those same questions and ask again.

Now, it all depends if that is your thing. BMW - the ultimate drivers machine sold 70% of 3 series in the US with 177hp engines, so if your average BMW drivers feels like 177hp is fine, then Lexus driver on average will be more than happy with 200+ hp :-).
