That makes it a TSX competitor LOL. Well, at least it isn't a 4 banger. It's still not 100% certain that's the official number yet . . .

It will. Just give it time for it's official US release after the world debut in Geneva.

I'm sure it has a fatter powerband, and nothing wrong with 82hp/L
if the IS350 maintains that it'll push 290.

The new IS is growing on me..minute by minute, but I still love the old IS design very much.

I still want my GS430. *sigh.

First impression

I like the new design alot - like others have mentioned - the lines are smoother on the NEW IS compared to the edgier NEW GS.

I'll withhold my judgement unitl I actually see one in person and test drive it

that's true.. until the official number's out, we can not to be so troubled by the lack of power meanwhile, although i'm equally disappointed about the miniscure power figure, i guess if it can corners well, then that changes the name of the game, at least for my current state of car appreciation. one member here said it well, "there's legal limit on how fast you can drive, but not how fast you can corner."

it won't corner as well as s2k, it's as fast as tsx(as one of us pointed out)..., the interior doesn't look as sporty as the current is..... i'm not hating lexus but i guess my anticipation detracked with the pronouced reality of the next is..

Flip...does this jive with the pictures you told us about a couple months ago...the ones you saw that Lexus supposedly would not release because of the conflict with the GS intro date?
I HOPE so.....about time we finally saw the car and ended all this speculation.

BTW...the car looks good IMO ........except for the headlights. Typical of many recent Toyota-Lexus products, there is too much triangular back up-sweep of the headlights. They need to go back to the rectangular headlights of the early-mid 90's.

Inside looks good ....a lot like the Acura TSX. The wood paneling on the console is something that was missing....and sorely needed.....on the previous version, but it's a shame the chrome-ball shifter and the chronograph gauges are gone.

Yes this is the same vehicle we were shown. It had different smaller wheels but it is for real. To be honest my first impression of the car from the rear looks like a Mazda 3. I never shared that back in December, but it has some similarity. But overall, it looks like the car will be a hit.

The rear DOES look a lot like the Mazda3. I've seen the new 3 and test-drove the top-of-the-line version, and its interior, while nice for an entry-level car, cannot compare with this new IS...not surprising considering the price difference. The 3, though, is the closest thing to a 4-door sports car you will find in a low-priced sedan.

Now I'VE got a tough choice....wait for the AWD version of THIS car or go with the 2005 Legacy / Outback...which I have posted many times on.

Like the headlights on my 97 Maxima SE? Those style headlights are sooooooooo boring and plain.

This pull back headlight is not bad compared to the latest ES300 - that I think is too "pulled back" for my tastes. This one on the IS though is very nice.

The whole car has a very nice "taut" look to it. If the 3rd GS had looked more like this, it would have looked even better!

looks like for the sunroof it has the same concept like the one on the VW Jetta, how u turn a *** in order to open it a certain way. The interior is gorgous!!, good job Lexus way better than the current design of the IS. more luxury less plastics
